It continued to rain all day and night, then around midnight, when I was in bed, there was an almighty crash, boom and other miscellaneous noises. I got out of bed and went to investigate. The wind had picked up my garden swing and thrown it down. Good grief. I went back to bed and decided to take care of it today. So first thing this morning I went to pick up my garbage cans, on the front, and one was missing. I took in the one that was there, and then picked up my paper and mail, as I did, I saw my other garbage can, it had blown down the street, around the corner and down the next street, so I went and retrieved it and put it away. There was nothing I could do with the swing, it was too big and too heavy, but I had an appointment with the guy from Terminex, so when he arrived I asked him to help me, which he did. I removed the top from the swing, so the next wind will not be able to blow it over, I hope. The wind got up to 25 miles per hour last night, and the rain was torrential. Congress has not take action on flood insurance, so I am glad mine is in place, but it is a big problem for people who are buying or selling property, because they will not be able to close till there is flood insurance available. Good grief. It seems my power also went out last night at the same time that the swing crashed, so that accounts for some of the other noises, I had to go round the house and set everything back. In addition to throwing over the swing, the wind tore up my poor magnolia, which was valiantly trying to blossom in spite of the unusually cold weather.
