Morganza spillway

Back home I catch up on the news after three weeks of no news. The Morganza spillway was opened yesterday and the flood waters released so that Baton Rouge and New Orleans and Jefferson Parish don't flood. The area west of us will flood and people are hard at work trying to save their properties. The river is at 17feet in New Orleans at the moment and it continues to rise. More sections of the Morganza spillway will be opened tomorrow and the water will impact Terrebonne Parish in a couple of days. The Corps of Engineers is hard at work building levees to protect from the flood waters. It is the first time the Morganza spillway has been opened since the 70's. The water that has been released should reach the bay by Wednesday. Vicsburg Ms has already flooded.
