I am back in Virginia. I got in last night. I was very lucky, my flight went through Chicago, and it never occurred to me that there might be a problem flying through Chicago, but in fact, my flight was changed and I left an hour early because they were expecting 15" of snow, and we left before it began, though the whole place was already covered with snow. That is a problem, living in Louisiana, I forget that the rest of the country has snow issues. Before leaving I worked on the old house, getting it ready to go on the market, to rent, not sell in this market. I worked all month. I finally got the floor in the laundry room done, it should have been done with the rest of the house, but the guy just never got it done. Then he left town like so many other contractors, so I had to find new contractors. the first were way too expensive, then I got a couple of guys who were expensive, but not as bad. Then they were supposed to replace the screen door that was broken when the floor in the living room was done. They botched the job and then refused to finish it. Thank goodness for Sandy who came to the rescue and fixed it for me. The guy who was supposed to help clear out the trash left by the last tenant also vanished. Anyway, the house is now ready. My truck is still full of stuff, hidden in my garage, I will unload it when I get back, and also unpack, now that the other house is finished I will be able to get my new house fixed up. Thank goodness.
Andrew came with Yulan to pick me up at the metro station. He was sitting in the back of the car chanting grandma, grandma, grandma, it is so good to be loved. Next week Steve will be driving down bringing Sandy and Matthew with him. It is going to be a great Christmas. Merry Christmas to all.
