Busy, busy, busy. Sunday my friend Ann and I decided to take a day off and catch up on some movies, so we went to see Last Chance Harvey in the morning and then after lunch Frost/Nixon. Last Chance was upbeat entertainment, I enjoyed it, three and a half gliomas. I thought Frost/Nixon was great, four gliomas. Then back to work, fighting with the overgrown weeds and bushes and trees at the old house, still trying to get it ready for rent. My friend Elizabeth helped me and we hacked down a gigantic bush, weeds and trees that keep trying to take the place over. The big fig tree never really recovered from Hurricane Gustav which knocked it over, and half the branches were laying along the ground, so we pruned it, loping off some big branches and trimming back others, and then tying it into an upright position. A shame, because it will mean very few figs this year, but if they grow along the ground they are no good anyway. Hopefully the tree will survive and grow in the right direction. The other two are OK, perhaps because they never did grow as big. The weather here has been crazy. Last night it was below freezing again even south of the lake. Today the wind will change to south westerly so the temperature should go up again, thank goodness. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings I played tennis with two big fat sweaters over my shirt and under my jacket, with a big woolly, furry hat, scarf, and gloves, brr. I'm so glad I don't have to live with the weather up north.
