How could we not want to take care of our sick?

As I recover from my morning of tennis, I watch Oprah. She is seeing how others live, first in Denmark, than in Dubai.

How could we not want to take care of our sick? This was the remark from the woman in Dubai, when Oprah asked about health care. I could not have said it better. Health care is free in both Dubai and Denmark. In Dubai they pay no taxes, in Denmark they can pay up to 60% of their salaries in taxes, but find it is worth it, because there are no poor, everyone has a place to live, food to eat, free education and medical care. They are all happy because there is nothing to worry about or be afraid of. They choose their jobs based on their interests not on how much they make, because everyone makes around the same. I understand this completely, that is pretty much the way it was in the UK when I lived there. Oprah asked the woman in Dubai how she would feel if she had to pay 50% of her salary in taxes to pay for health care, and she said "they make more money in Denmark, if we made two or three times as much money we would not miss paying 50 or 60% of it in taxes." So true.

Rio. They did not mention health care with the woman in Rio, for obvious reasons, there was terrible poverty there. It did look beautiful, I have not been there yet, it is on my list.

Then Turkey, Istanbul. Again, no mention of health care. It is also beautiful, I was there back in the 70's, and I also loved it, though again, the poverty is terrible.

Then Japan. The program was cut off in the middle of the interview with the Japanese woman, I could not believe it, she was mid sentence when it was cut off.

Anyway, tennis was great this morning. It warmed up pretty quickly, I removed one top in a matter of minutes and another after the first set. The sun was bright, and there was a slight wind, causing the shadows from the trees around the court to dance around, it was like trying to play in a disco with strobe lights going. It was a challenge with the balls flying in and out of shadows, and I think we were all cross eyed by the time we finished. Tomorrow I will be playing at a different court.
