We need Grand Isle
Ida is now only a tropical storm, however, even though the storm has been downgraded, in Grand Isle the levees have been washed away and three camp sites are in jeopardy. The local government was hoping that the Corps would get the levees completed by December, but now they have problems. They are bringing in rocks and sand trying to build makeshift levees. The seas are picking up and they will have to face high tides the rest of the day until midnight. It is anticipated that the storm will come ashore in Alabama, however, west of the center will be high winds and high seas. Grand Isle is going to really take the brunt of this storm in Louisiana. We need Grand Isle and the wetlands, without them hurricanes would come in land much stronger and be much worse. I have brought in all my garden furniture, except the big swing, which I can't move by myself, and taken in anything that could blow around, in anticipation of the winds. Next I will go to see my doctor to see what is wrong with me.
