one good thing
Since Katrina, life has been very difficult in the New Orleans area. Insurance agents messed up my insurance, so no insurance money. no FEMA money, no Road Home money, the taxes went up even though the place was uninhabitable, the utilities went up, city hall is worthless. I decided New Orleans was not worth the headaches, so a year plus later after I finally got the place rehabbed, using my lifetime savings, because, as I said, no help of any kind from anywhere else, I got a tenant. The tenant is now gone, and so I need to find another, but when I went to the condo to get it ready, I found I had no power. I had forgotten to change it to my name. So today, the last day before leaving town, I got on the phone to find out how to get it taken care of. Prior to Katrina, when I turned on the power, I had to spend the entire day at the office, standing in lines. there was no phone help, no computer info, nothing but endless lines. Today, to my amazement, when I got them on the phone, they verified my info, and 30 minutes later, it was done. I can't believe it, one thing is better than before Katrina, one good thing.
